March 10th, 2010Update 3/8/10
March 8th, 2010Just wanted to give you all an update on everything that has been going on since the surgery! First off surgery went great. Dr. Cohen is the man and used his special skills to make me normal again. Well I will never be normal but you know what I mean. My left knee ended up being a little worse then we thought but my right knee was waaaaay better then we thought. I will tell you though having surgery on both knees at the same time is pretty crappy. Trying to get to the bathroom the next couple days was even crappier haha.
So it has been 4 weeks now and I feel great. I am pretty mobile and I actually just went to the gym today for the first time since the surgery. I felt like an athlete again. As far as a riding timeline goes it looks like I will be back on the bike in about 8 more weeks. I might try and ride Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas SX but I am not really too set on it. Long term we are looking good and I cant wait to get back on the program I was on last summer. I should be back to 100% by June which would mean I would be ready for some of the cool races I like to do in the summer and fall. I am looking at doing the following races this summer: AMP Top Gun, Red Bluff Summercross, PIR Thursday Night MX, X Games, Fresnillo Mexico MX National, Gothenburg Sweden SX, Montreal Supercross, and the US Open. Should be a fun summer!
Vincent and I have officially started recording our debut full length album for The Main Event. Our last CD was a six song EP called “Built From Scratch” that we released back in 2006. The new album will be a 10 song thrasher called “we have no idea what the hell we are gonna call it”. It is going to be rad. We already have written the 10 songs and they are about as dirty as a Tiger Woods’ text message. We hope to release it sometime in the fall.
Most importantly…….my baby girl is on the way. 4 weeks from now I will be holding my baby girl (Reese Elizabeth Blair) in my arms and I am so excited I cant even explain it. I am also excited for Maggie because I know she is not pumped at looking like Rosie O’Donnell. Seriously the ground shakes when she walks through our apartment and both our cats have been hiding the past month out of fear of being eaten. I really cant wait though. I know that I am ready to do this. I am a little worried about shitty diapers but I guess that is what pressure washers are for. Not to mention my mom lives 30 seconds away and will be handling the stinky messy stuff after Maggie gets her ass back to work. I hope everyone reading this understands that I am totally just messing around and I am not as much of an asshole as this last paragraph might make me seem.
Talk to ya soon!

Surgery Update!
February 11th, 2010Yesterday I had surgery on both my knees and everything went really well. My left knee was a little worse then we thought but the right knee was waaaaaay better then we thought. I didn’t do very well last night with all the medicine in me. I hate pain pills (they make me sick) and before I left the hospital the nurse gave me a Norco and I was pretty sick all night. I threw up a few times and until about an hour ago (6am), I did not feel to splendid. I am pumped to spend the next few weeks on the couch playing video games and eating ice cream. As soon as I am able, I am going to get on the rehab and get myself back in shape. It is gonna be a tough road ahead but this is nothing new for me. Anyone that lives near Lodi give me a call and come hang out.
Bad news……
January 31st, 2010I am pretty bummed to announce that the 2010 SX season is done for me. Last weekend I re-injured myself pretty bad and although I was hoping that I would be able to ride through the injury and salvage the season, I don’t think it is going to be possible. After talking it over with my family as well as my agent Todd, we have decided the best move is to have surgery and take care of the problem. This was a very hard decision for me to make. I have put so much work into the last 3 years and I know that this year I was ready to take that step and contend for the podium.
I am not sure how long I will be out exactly. My number 1 priority is to make sure that I am 100% before I come back and whether that takes 6 weeks or 6 months, I have to make sure I do whats right for my body. I will continue to update this website and keep you all posted on my recovery.
I want to thank everyone for their support! I would like to thank all the great sponsors who have teamed up with me for the 2010 season and I cant wait to get back out there. Thank you Bully Dog Technologies, Oneal, TCCI, Americraft, AiRide Suspension, Jardine, C4MX, Gaerne, Renthal, Factory Backing, EVS, Scott Goggles, Dunlop, Works Connection, UFO, Motorex, Vanquish, Faction MX, EVOMX, Ride Engineering, Slaton Racing, DVS, and Speed Factory. Most importantly, I would like to thank my family, my wife Maggie, and Todd Ballard at NXTAgency.
Sponsor Spotlight: Bully Dog Technologies
January 21st, 2010
I have decided to start a new feature on my website called “Sponsor Spotlight”. Being a privateer is tough, but when you have the support of some amazing companies and individuals, you can still be competitive and still do the things you love to do. I decided to start with the biggest dog on my team, Bully Dog Technologies.
When we decided to pass up on the couple team offers we had and run our own program, we knew that we needed to bring in a big title sponsor to help make the 2010 season happen. We talked to a bunch of different people but when the dust settled we chose the company that best suited our team. The guys at Bully Dog believed in what we were doing and they really believed in me. They felt that I could be a great representative of their company and I felt that they were the perfect partnership for my race program. I look forward to kicking some ass for them this year.
BULLY DOG HISTORY
Bully Dog was formed in 1998 in Aberdeen, Idaho. The founders of Bully Dog – Michael, Phillip, and Daryl Klassen were heavily influenced by their father Harold’s interest in improving vehicle performance. Several years prior to the company’s inception, Harold had experimented with increasing performance on his diesel farm tractor by injecting propane into the engine’s combustion chamber.
In 1998, Bully Dog’s owners took this concept and developed and patented a safe and effective propane injection system to enhance diesel engine performance. These systems were first sold out of their farm shop, but as demand increased, the owners moved their company to another location and officially organized Bully Dog.
Bully Dog’s quest was now to be recognized as the leader in the diesel performance industry, which motivated them to stay abreast of new technology in this industry. With the introduction of electronic components and software to improve performance, we began to research new types of products like intake and exhaust systems to complement our electronic components. Bully Dog was now able to offer a complete performance package. In 2005, the company expanded its range of products to include performance products for gasoline powered vehicles, at the 2006 SEMA show the gasoline products were taken to the next level with innovative and revolutionary product designs.
BULLY DOG PRODUCTS
Bully Dog products are developed with you in mind and each of you has a different need, want and desire. Our products, all the way back to the first propane kits, reflect that. Bully Dog products are built to be flexible, allowing each user to get their own desired result, from outrageous performance on the race track to improved fuel economy driving down the highway. Bully Dog products have you covered with increased performance, added safety and improved economy. This is evident with the Triple Dog Downloader, Outlook Monitor and the new Performance Management Tool. These products offer the safety of a module married to the performance and flexibility of a downloader.
BULLY DOG INNOVATION
Product innovation is key and Bully Dog takes innovation very seriously. In the past 8 years, Bully Dog has been first to market with product fitment and function over 80 times. They are the ONLY manufacturer that allows you to take their product for a free test drive with the Tri Before You Buy program. And in 2005 with the release of the Triple Dog Downloader and Outlook Monitor, Bully Dog revolutionized the market with the ability to adjust power, safety and economy levels on-the-fly while driving down the road. So what are you waiting for, find the right product for your vehicle and Unleash the Power!
Phoenix Race Report
January 20th, 2010Well the Phoenix Supercross has come and gone, and I am once again a bit disappointed. The truth is I am not concerned with my actual results right now, but more concerned with the way I am riding. As most of you know my priorities are to be at 100% for the Indy SX on February 20th. The 250 East Championship is my main concern and I have some very high goals for myself. I am riding the first six 450 rounds (on my 250) to fine tune my race bike and get some extra track time before my season starts.
As far as my riding goes, I feel a bit off in a few different areas and it is getting pretty annoying. The only way I am going to be able to get myself to where I need to be is to work very hard on and off the track, and really focus on dialing in my bike and skills. I am getting better, but I still feel behind. I am not a quitter and I will figure out this funk and I will be ready for Indy. 32 days to go!
As far as a race report goes, there is not much to report. I qualified 33rd fastest in the 450, but due to the fact that I am riding my 250, I tend to focus on where my times match up against the 250 class. This weekend I was 18th fastest out of the 250 guys which is about 10 spots back from where I should be. The track in Phoenix was pretty good. I had a couple weak spots that held me back from being faster. This weekend should be a mudder in Anaheim which I honestly am not looking forward to. But I am a professional Supercross racer and sometimes things are not the way you like them and you just have to man up and not be a pansy, which I am sometimes. At least Indy is in a dome so I cant use the mud excuse when the series heads East.
Oh, and my brother has a cold sore. I don’t know why, but I think it is pretty funny.
Anaheim 1 Race Report
January 12th, 2010
The drive home from a Supercross can be quite interesting. You get a chance to reflect on the night before and evaluate yourself, your competition, and your equipment, as well as plan for the next weekends race. So after the 6 hour drive home I have come to a conclusion……..I am gonna step down from the pro ranks and start racing local races in the Novice class. This weekend was probably the worst I have ridden in my entire career. The last few months of my life have been a little difficult but there is no excuse for riding like a total pansy out there. Honestly I felt like I had not ridden a dirtbike in years and it was so bad that even my squid brother beat me in times. I have decided to make a list of excuses of why I rode the way I did this past weekend.
1. I was constipated from the oatmeal I had for breakfast
2. My mechanic Andy hadn’t showered in 3 days and I was distracted.
3. The track had too many jumps on it.
4. Bubba yelled at me in practice.
5. My bike looked so good I didn’t want to get it dirty.
6. It was too hot outside (72 degrees)
Moving forward I would like to say that I have nowhere to go but up. Each week I will get better and faster and by Indy I will be 100%. That is why I have decided to ride the 450 class on the West. I need to use these races to work out the bugs and get myself back to where I know I should be. Maybe my race report next week will be a little bit less embarrassing to write.
