3 for 3

June 27th, 2010

Well we are 3 rounds in to the Top Gun Summercross series and I am 3 for 3. This past weekend was by far the toughest. I felt a little off all night but still rode a smart main event and pulled it off. I did have a couple weaknesses exposed and I know what I need to do to fix them. I got 2 weekends off until the next round. I am gonna work really hard and come back a bit faster and a bit stronger. The months of July and August are gonna be really busy. Looking forward to keeping these results going.

Check the links below to see the results from the past 3 weekends.

One of my favorite races of the year is back. July 22nd. Last year I was able to holeshot and pull off a pretty big win. Made about $2900 and spent it all on hookers and drugs on the way home. Check out the video link and results link below.

Update June 20th

June 20th, 2010

Hello, how about that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City. haha

I just wanted to give you all an update on my life….racing and at home. First off, this whole baby thing is awesome. I officially have added a member to my wolf pack. My boy Evan is 10 weeks old now and getting cooler every day. He is super mellow, watches TV with me, and barely cries. In my world that is perfect. The coolest thing is how much he farts. The kid has more gas then his Uncle Vincent, and anyone who knows Vincent knows that is an accomplishment. The last 10 weeks have been the best of my life……and it seems like every day is getting better.

On the racing front, things are going good as well. My knees are feeling great and my speed and conditioning are coming around at a good pace. I don’t feel as good as I did before I got hurt, but I am not too far away. I hired one of my best buddies Rory to go with me to the track and help me with my riding. He is like a trainer/nutritionist/mechanic and I pay him in slices of Ricks Pizza (only on Sundays). But we have a pretty awesome program going right now and it seems to be working. I have raced the last 2 weekends in Los Banos at the AMP Top Gun series. I have won both weeks and have been riding solid. The competition has been good….my brother, Casey Hinson, and Topher Ingalls race every week as well so we have a pretty nice group of guys to race every week. I am pumped for the month of July where I will be racing this big race in Portland (PIR Thursday night MX) and X Games, and these fair races are helping me race myself back into shape and speed.

OK, I gotta go change a diaper. For those of you who race or ride you should go to your local dealer and buy stuff from Oneal, Jardine, Renthal, Factory Backing, Gaerne, Scott Goggles, Dunlop, No Toil, EVS, EvoMX, MotoRex, Works Connection, UFO, and Ride Engineering. If you buy any other product you are a loser and you can kiss my ass.

TOP GUN SUMMERCROSS @ Los Banos

June 2nd, 2010

so last week I had a meeting with Jack and Corky of AMP to figure out how we can make the Top Gun series at Los Banos more exciting and more affordable for everyone. We know it can be a far drive and we know that the economy has made things difficult for everyone, so we wanted to make sure that riders had the opportunity to get more track time and that we could put on a better show for all the spectators. So we came up with this…..

NEW CLASS FOR 2010

Top Gun Pro-Am:
For 2010 there will no longer be 250 Pro or 450 Pro class. An exciting new class has been formed to bring maximum excitement and give riders the opportunity for more track time. The Top Gun class will be a free class for all pros, intermediates, and novices. All Pro riders will race the Top Gun for free but must have & show AMP card proving Pro status. All Amateur riders (Int. & Nov) will be allowed to race the Top Gun class for free as long as the rider has paid and entered their regular class. The class is an Open class meaning riders can ride 250cc or 450cc motorcycles. All riders that are racing the free Top Gun race must sign-up for the event before the races start the day of the event.

Format:
In the Top Gun class, riders will race in a Supercross style format. Based on number of entries, there will be heats and lcq’s to determine and qualify the 16 riders who will race in the Top Gun Main Event. The Top Gun Main Event will be a 15 lap final ran from the starting gate and will be the final moto of the night. There will be a cap of 45 riders for the Top Gun Pro AM. Pro riders will have 1st priority, Intermediates will have 2nd, and Novice riders will have 3rd. The format will go as follows:

Top Gun Heat #1: 8 laps, 15 riders (1-4 to Top Gun Main Event, 5-15 to LCQ)
Top Gun Heat #2: 8 laps, 15 riders (1-4 to Top Gun Main Event, 5-15 to LCQ)
Top Gun Heat #3: 8 laps, 15 riders (1-4 to Top Gun Main Event, 5-15 to LCQ)
Top Gun LCQ #1: 6 laps, 15 riders (1-2 to Top Gun Main Event)
Top Gun LCQ #2: 6 laps, 15 riders (1-2 to Top Gun Main Event)
Top Gun Main Event: 15 laps, 16 riders

Schedule due to change based on number of entries

Purse:
Each week riders will race for a $1500 purse provided by AMP. Any AM rider that finishes inside the money will earn AMP dollars so not to ruin a riders classification status.

Raffle Tickets:
Each week spectators can get involved in the Top Gun by purchasing $1 raffle tickets throughout the night. Before the start of the Top Gun Main Event raffle tickets will be drawn by the top four qualifiers based on their fastest lap times of the night. A 5th ticket will be drawn by AMP and the spectator with the matching ticket will be matched up with the rest of the riders in the Top Gun Main Event. The rider who wins the Top Gun and the spectator who has that riders matching raffle ticket will split the money!

Track:
An all new layout has been built for the 2010 Top Gun Summercross series. The start has been moved inside the fairgrounds to give fans a better view of the start and make for exciting racing. The track will be safe for all amateur riders and kids, but give our Top Gun riders a more challenging and race-friendly track. There should be some great battles this summer!

Top Gun Championship Series End Bonus:
Riders must compete in 7 of the 8 rounds to qualify for the Championship bonus. Only your best 7 finishes count towards the Championship points. Championship bonus is $1500 split between top 3 overall finishers. (1st-$750, 2nd-$500, 3rd-$250)

Points- 1st-25, 2nd-22, 3rd-20, 4th-18, 5th-16, 6th-15, 7th-14
8th-13, 9th-12, 10th-11, 11th-10, 12th-9, 13th-8, 14th-7, 15th-6

Schedule:

Las Vegas Race Report:

May 11th, 2010

Vegas was horrible. The end.

Bully Dog Technologies Race Report: Salt Lake City SX

May 4th, 2010

This has been a crazy week. Last minute I decided I was going to enter and race the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Supercross’. I have only been on the bike for about 2 weeks and when I was on the bike it was not even mine (Vincent let me ride his a couple times). I was very unprepared but I didn’t care, I wanted to race anyways. I figure the best way to get back in shape is to get right back out there and go for it. Maybe I should have waited. Check out the week I had trying to get ready for this race:

Monday: I drove up to Cameron Park to meet up with Kramer Patterson who had my new bike. Thanks to Rick at PIR Thursday Night Motocross, i was able to get a good deal on a new Honda 450 from Motosport Hillsboro up in Oregon. Kramer, being the stud muffin that he is, brought the bike home from Seattle so I didn’t have to drive 12 hours to go get it. After I picked up the bike from Kramer I drove home and ripped the bike apart. I got right to work on it. The first thing I did was take the suspension off and hand it over to my dad (AiRide Suspension) and he dialed it in. We have never done any testing with the new CRF450 so we took a shot in the dark. I also put on some Ride Engineering bar mounts, Renthal bars/grips and sprocket, Jardine Pipe, and a Works Connection throttle tube and clutch perch. It was a long night but I got the bike ready to ride!

Tuesday: I went out to my Supercross track at my friend Mike Flores’ house. The rain was coming down pretty good and I was only able to get about 10 minutes in before the track was thrashed. I was pretty bummed because I have zero time on this new bike and couldn’t really test anything. My buddy Eric Nye came with me and pounded a few motos in the rain on Mike’s bitchen motocross track. Eric is getting ready to win the Canadian National Championship this summer. When he wins he can thank me for doing his laptimes for him in the pouring rain.

Wednesday: Due to crap weather I had nowhere to ride Wednesday. Then I found out about a little fair race that was going on in Los Banos. I decided to load up my stuff and head over there so I could at least get some time on my bike. The track was really easy and mellow but I got a chance to get used to my bike a little. It was worth it for sure. I got 3rd place behind my brother Vincent and my buddy Casey Hinson. They spanked me pretty bad but I didn’t care that much. I told Vincent I would handle him when we got to Salt Lake and he laughed at me. I wonder if he is laughing now after I whooped his ass this weekend.

Thursday: Still raining, nowhere to ride. I decided to just work on my bike and get everything ready for the weekend. I was pretty bummed because I had literally about 45 minutes on my new bike and was in no way ready to race a Supercross. I went to the gym and pounded out a session on the spin bike. I also put on a set of sick looking graphics from Factory Backing. My bike was looking good and I was ready to go.

Friday: My brother and I, with our friend and travel partner Jake Lockes, left around 10AM and pinned the 10 hour drive straight to Olive Garden. The drive went smooth and after an amazing dinner we headed to our hotel, Motel 6. The place was pretty decent. The only problem is Vincent slept with the heater on all night and I was sweating like crazy. I think he was trying to get inside my head. Too bad it didn’t work. haha

Saturday: The weather in Salt Lake was pretty wild all day. It rained most of the morning and around 2PM the sun came out. They prepped the track pretty good for what they had to deal with. We only got 1 practice, a 12 minute session. I felt like crap out there. I was so nervous and could not get into a groove whatsoever. The bike felt good but my timing was way off and I was a little afraid of my knees. They have not giving me any problems at all but I am still being cautious. I ended up qualifying 29th fastest, 1 spot in front of my squid brother. I know this sounds dumb but even though I rode like crap and was that far back in times, I was still pumped I beat V$. He assured me that he was going to beat me in the races.

It started pouring during my heat race which wouldn’t have been a problem except my grip started twisting and almost flew off. I could barely hold on so I just cruised it in safely and got ready for the LCQ. After borrowing some grip wire from Ryan Clark, my bike and I were ready to get into that LCQ…….and beat Vincent. I got a horrible start but made some quick passes on the first lap. I crossed the finish line in 9th and right in front of me was my brother. I was soaking wet with no tearoffs but I charged my ass off and made the pass. He was all over me the rest of the moto but I held my ground. When we pulled off the track he informed me that he was gonna smoke me in Vegas next weekend.

After the race we washed our bikes, loaded em up, and drove 10 hours straight home. We got home Sunday morning at 7am and I slept the rest of the day. I am really excited for Las Vegas this weekend. Hopefully with a little more time and confidence I can do a little better. Either way I am having fun and am so glad to be back on the bike. Every day I feel better and even though it is going to be a long road to get back to where I was before, I know I can. Check back next week for a Las Vegas Race Report.

Update from the Blair family!

April 20th, 2010

Well, a lot has changed since I last updated this page. I would have updated it sooner but I have been pretty busy. Let’s start with the most important update!

On April 5th at 8:15am, Evan Gerard Blair was born. This is my wife and I’s first child and it couldn’t have gone any better. He is a very healthy boy, and coming from my gene pool, he is obviously extremely good looking. The funny thing is that he was supposed to be a girl. The stupid Doctor who did the sonogram said we would be having a baby girl so we spent a lot of time and money preparing a girls room at our home. Everything was pink. All the clothes, blankets, etc. Maggie had here baby shower and everyone was really excited for a girl, as were we. But Evan had other plans. I consider myself an amateur prankster and my son came out by pulling the biggest prank on everyone. And I couldn’t be happier.

As far as racing goes I am back on the saddle. This past weekend I raced a race up in Sackville, which is in Canada for those of you who failed geography in High School. It went pretty good. First off, I had only ridden about 20-30 minutes at home before I boarded my flight. But I felt decent at home and figured I would go and stuff some people. I ended up riding really well. My speed was good, my racing skills were pretty solid, but my conditioning was not up to par obviously. The best part is that my knees felt great and I even crashed twice and got right up no problem. It was by far one of the best trips I have ever been on. I stayed with 2 of my best friends Eric Nye and Ryan Lockhart. We had a blast. I even sang karaoke one night and got a standing ovation from all 11 people in the bar. I also met some super cool people that made sure our trip was amazing. Special thanks to Rick, Gary, Sandra, Larry, and Richard for the great experience.

So what is next for the #125 machine? I am racing Salt Lake City SX and Las Vegas SX and I hope to do fairly well. I am picking up a brand new CRF450 this week and will rush to get it ready. I know I am not at 100% but the best way to get back into the program is to race. Hopefully it goes well and I get my Bully Dog, TCCI, AiRide, Americraft Honda into the night program. haha….seriously.

Special thanks to NXTAgency for continuing to support and look after me through these past few months. Time to buckle down and get back to where I was before the injury. With the love and support of all my family, friends, sponsors, and fans, it shouldn’t be a problem.
